Ahmed Manas Makeen is the Executive Director of CaFFE, an independent election monitor from Sri Lanka. He was previously the National Organizer of Centre for Human Rights and Research – Sri Lanka, a leading nonprofit civil society organization in the country. Both these organizations actively engaged in promoting and protecting human rights and representative democracy during the civil war and the years after the end of the war.
He has over 13 years of experience in the NGO sector. In addition he is the author/co-author of a number of publications issued by CaFFE and CHR on elections, misuse of public property and bribery and corruption.
Makeen is also a well-known organizer of public movements against suppression and human rights violations. He has also acted as a resource person for a number of local and international organizations on elections and human rights.
Makeen is also a qualified marketer.
